The steering column shaft bearing for tilt wheel equipped 1967-69 GM cars, 1970-72 Chevy, GMC Pickups, and 1973-84 Chevy, GMC vans restores your steering column, allowing it to turn smoothly without binding. This bearing is located inside of your steering column tube and supports the steering shaft as it spins. Like all bearings, a steering column bearing can fail due to age or debris in the bearing itself. This may cause popping, roughness, or other noises when turning. This upper bearing is designed for the early style tilt steering columns that were typically in use prior to 1969 in GM cars, prior to 1973 in Chevy, GMC pickup trucks and throughout the late 1960's to early 1980's in Chevy, GMC Vans. This bearing will not fit the 1969-later coulmns that had ignition switch in column.. It is for vehicles with ignition key switch located in the dash.
